A dream finally became reality when FynbosPark opened the doors of its new assisted living and frail care facility on 1 August 2026.

The opening marked an important milestone for the Kleinmond community and is the result of many years of determination, generosity and people working together towards a shared vision.

An idea that sparked a movement

The journey began when members of the community came together and identified the need for a frail care facility that would allow older persons to receive the care and support they needed close to their families and familiar surroundings.

What started as an idea grew into a community movement. Fundraising initiatives such as the Oom Petrus Charity Shop and the Oom Sakkie/Singletons Tuisnywerheid were established to raise funds towards the development of the facility.

Over the years, many people have contributed their time, skills, donations and support. While some of the original volunteers and supporters are no longer involved, each person played a part in bringing the dream closer to reality.

Living the dream

Today, the FynbosPark village has been serving the community for several years and includes life-right cottages for older persons who are able to live independently. The new facility will expand the care available at FynbosPark and includes two assisted living wings and two frail care wings.

The new facility is a programme of Badisa, a registered nonprofit organisation that provides care and social services to people across different stages of life.

Through its connection with Badisa, FynbosPark will form part of a wider network committed to providing professional, compassionate and sustainable care to older persons.

The opening on 1 August not only celebrated a new building. It also celebrates nearly three decades of perseverance, generosity and the extraordinary power of a community working together.
